Bake Sale or Garage Sale
Bake Sales and Garage Sales are great community social events, bringing people together to sell and buy, mix and mingle. For both types of events, you’ll want to find a few organized people to delegate responsibilities and plan out how the event will run. Bake Sales at schools or in your office building are always a hit. You can even organize some co-workers or the PTA to volunteer to bake goods and work at the table. At a garage sale, turn it into fun for the whole block. Ask your neighbors to join your garage sale in honor of PPMD. For both, make sure to have plenty of information on why you are raising money and a jar for additional donations.
Softball or Kickball Tournament
How about getting your friends, family, and co-workers out on the field for a game day? There are many ways to throw a sporting event fundraiser. Some well-attended fundraisers are Softball, Kickball, and Volleyball. Here are some ideas:
- Traditional Softball or Kickball Game
Charge an entry fee per player or per team. Locate a friend who can umpire/ref or see
if your local high school coach could donate their time. Ask local businesses if they’d like to sponsor the tournament/game in exchange for their logo on shirts and/or signage. Depending on the location, also charge for spectators, snacks, and merchandise! - Hit-A-Thon, Kick-A-Thon, Pitch-A-Thon
Not interested in an entire game? Find a time and location, or community event where you can host a table game. Charge a few dollars to see who can hit the hardest, kick the longest, or pitch the fastest. - Volleyball Tournament
Many beaches are already set up for volleyball tournaments and are willing to donate their space for a good cause. Teams of 6 pay to play. Single or double elimination works. And a trophy for the winners absolutely makes it worth it.
Family Fun Day
Bring your local community together for a Family Fun Day or Block Party. We can help you identify a location and work with local vendors and businesses to donate their time or product to the event. Parks and farms are great. How about a petting zoo and face painter? You’ll sell tickets to the event. Work with food vendors to receive a portion of their profits (or maybe they will donate their services for free!), and talk with your local radio station about sending someone to the event. With enough time and a solid committee, you can have a family fun day that appeals to everyone.
